DIAMANTO STYLIANOU IS A FRANCOPHONE WHO IS A TRANSLATOR AND INTERPRETER IN LIMASSOL. SHE COMPLETED A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN APPLIED FOREIGN LANGUAGES (ENGLISH-SPANISH) AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NICE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS, A MASTER’S DEGREE IN TRANSLATION IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE IN 2008 AND A SECOND IN TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SURREY IN 2009.

THE CHOICE TO STUDY TRANSLATION IN FRANCE CAME FROM THE FACT THAT IT COMBINED SEVERAL SKILLS, SUCH AS LANGUAGES (ENGLISH, FRENCH, SPANISH, GREEK), THE NEED AND THE PASSION TO WRITE, ITS CULTURAL VERSATILITY AND IN PARTICULAR ITS DESIRE TO REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH THESE LANGUAGES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE CULTURES AS WELL AS THE DESIRE TO DEEPEN ONE’s OWN CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC KNOWLEDGE BY EMBRACING A CAREER IN TRANSLATION. SHE WAS ABLE TO TRAIN IN THE PROFESSION OF TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION BY WORKING FIRST AS AN INTERN AT THE EUROPEAN COURT OF AUDITORS IN LUXEMBOURG

AT THE TIME THE NEED FOR PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATORS IN THE CYPRIOT TRANSLATION MARKET WAS OBVIOUS AND VISIBLE, THIS UNTIL TODAY

RETURNING TO CYPRUS, DIAMANTO IMMEDIATELY WANTED TO INVEST IN THE FRENCH CULTURAL NETWORK ABROAD BY BECOMING SECRETARY OF THE ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE DE LIMASSOL IN 2010 WHERE SHE HEADED THE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL POLE OF THE ASSOCIATION, AS A PART-TIME TRANSLATOR.

IN 2013, SHE LEFT ALLIANCE TO DEDICATE HERSELF ENTIRELY TO TRANSLATION; SHE BECAME A PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATOR WITH THE COUNCIL OF TRANSLATORS OF CYPRUS AND LATER IN 2019, SWORN IN TO THE CYPRIOT MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR (PRESS AND INFORMATION OFFICE).

ALEXIS PAPADOPOULOS IS A FRANCO-CYPRIOT BORN IN 1978 IN LIMASSOL. HE RUNS AN ARCHITECTURE FIRM IN DOWNTOWN LIMASSOL SINCE 2010. THIS FRANCOPHONE STUDIED IN FRANCE, MARSEILLE.

ALEXIS WENT TO STUDY AT THE ECOLE NATIONALE SUPÉRIEURE D'ARCHITECTURE DE MARSEILLE-LUMINY IN 1998. THIS YEAR WHICH FOR HIM STILL THINKS TODAY AS HIS ARRIVAL IN THE PHOCAEAN CITY, COINCIDES WITH THAT OF THE FOOTBALL WORLD CUP WON BY FRANCE.  HE STUDIED IN FRANCE UNTIL 2007, THEN HE RETURNED TO HIS HOMETOWN.  AFTER A SHORT BREAK FROM 2003 TO 2004 IN ITALY FOR HIS ERASMUS COURSE, HE OBTAINED HIS DIPLOMA OF END OF STUDIES IN 2005 AT THE HIGHER SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE OF GRENOBLE, A CHANGE OF SCHOOL DUE TO THE IRRESISTIBLE DESIRE TO FOLLOW HIS FAVORITE TEACHER WHO HAD BEEN TRANSFERRED THERE. FROM 2005 TO 2007, ALEXIS WORKED IN MARSEILLE AS AN ARCHITECTURE GRADUATE EMPLOYEE;

HE DESCRIBES A BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE OF STUDIES IN FRANCE AND IN PARTICULAR IN MARSEILLE, VILLE-MONDEQUI KNEW TO EDUCATE HIM "SOCIALLY", BOTH AT THE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL IN A SCHOOL WHERE THE TEACHING WAS OF QUALITY, AS AT THE PERSONAL LEVEL WITH BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIPS. RETURNING TO CYPRUS WAS A SOURCE OF SOCIAL REHABILITATION. LIVING IN FRANCE MARKED HIS PERSONALITY, FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

TODAY ALEXIS IS AT THE HEAD OF HIS OWN ARCHITECTURAL FIRM WHICH HE CREATED IN 2010 AND WHICH NOW HAS FOUR EMPLOYEES. ORIENTED TOWARDS CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE, HIS WORK EARNED HIM IN 2022 THE BIG SEE AWARD FOR AN APARTMENT BUILDING. WINNER OF THIS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION, THIS PRIZE WAS AWARDED TO HIM IN LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA. HE HAS ALSO PUBLISHED HIS WORK IN JOURNALS IN GREECE, SOUTH KOREA AND ON THE INTERNET.

ALEXIS IS ALSO A FRANCOPHILE WHO SEES IN FRANCE A GOOD WAY TO BECOME AN ENLIGHTENED SPIRIT. THIS BROUGHT HIM A CRITICAL VISION OF THINGS. LET’S MEAN BY THIS "TAKING A CRITICAL VIEW OF EVERYTHING AROUND US", HE ASSURED. MORE PRECISELY, LIVING IN MARSEILLE ALLOWED HIM TO APPRECIATE THE PUBLIC SPACE, FROM WHICH WAS FOR HIM A NEW ACCESS TO THE INCLUSIVE AND OPEN SPACE THAT THE PHOCAEAN CITY CAN BE.
